70,273 Project Update

Earlier this year, I wrote a few posts about The 70,273 Project and shared a few pictures of the blocks I was making. I also put a challenge to our quilt group, asking them to make blocks as well. Those blocks were gathered in June. I had a few friends make blocks too.

Now all of the blocks have been gathered, identified, and sewn into a quilt top.

The blue tape on the quilt helps me identify the makers of those particular blocks. The green tags indicate the rows. I’ll need these when I make a quilt map, which will be sent along with the quilt. The quilt map helps Jeanne keep track of the makers of each block.

Once Connie finishes the quilting and the binding and hanging sleeve put on, the quilt will be shipped to The 70, 273 Project headquarters to be ready for display when needed.

Here’s the really neat thing. The 70,273 Project has been juried in (had to go through a special process and was chosen) as a Special Exhibit at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas this November.  The quilts will be on display in Texas! Needless to say, those of us who have been working on this are very excited! Congrats to Jeanne Hewell-Chambers for all the hard work she continues to put into this!
