Fabric Eye Candy

While you are reading this, I am quilting away at a friend’s house, having a fun little retreat. I should have some fun progress on the baby quilts to show you on Friday.  No worries, I have a little fabric eye candy for you today.

In the meantime, I thought I’d share a little peek at some of the fabric I picked up while on our trip. While some of the fabric I purchased was intentional, I have to admit there were a few impulse buys.

Not 1 but 4

While we were planning the trip, BigJ had planned in the trip to see Missouri Star Quilt Company. However, he didn’t tell me that he had also found a quilt shop in North Platte. You can read about that visit here. While we were in Santa Fe, we made a quick stop at Santa Fe Quilting, another very nice store and worth a stop if you’re in the area. And then a  quilting friend from Albuquerque suggested I visit Thread Bear  in Las Vegas, New Mexico; another cute, cozy shop that shouldn’t be missed if you’re passing through. So I had a unexpected mini shop hop on my trip.

Of course I bought fabric at each store. So let’s have just a little reveal today.

The two layer cakes are fabric lines I’ve been wishing for. Victoria Findlay Wolfe’s Mostly Manor (that orange!!) and Alison Glass Sunprints. The text fabric behind Sunprints is also Alison Glass. I am so excited! The charm packs and the fat quarter bundle — all impulse buys. Oh yes indeedy, I had a great time!

At least one of you should have been in the car with me on the day I bought the Alison Glass Sunprint. Hopping into the car where BigJ was waiting, I excitedly said, “I got an Alison Glass layer cake!” His response? “A what?” See what I mean? I needed one of you there! When I hopped into the car with the VFW fabric, I didn’t even bother. He just wouldn’t have understood.

Anyway, I’m going to pet this fabric for a bit while I think about how to use it. I have something in mind for the VFW fabric; I’m not sure on the Sunprints yet.

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Love your fabric choices and can’t wait to see what you cook up with them. Always fun to go to new quilting stores, as they do have different stock than your LQS. Sorry, for your husband it wasn’t a real layer cake!

Beautiful finds! My husband would also have gone “Huh?” at any designer’s name, but I can count on him to approve of novelty fabrics. I think he likes being able to say, “Oh, look, this one has little lobsters on it!”

Hey there Wendy, glad to read you’re retreating. Love your eye candy, I also bought a VFW Manor Layer Cake and made a sixteen patch with it using some Kaffe Fassett Shot Cotton. I still need to quilt it, it’s on my list. How was the MSQ visit, I almost fainted when I went there.
