More Llama Drama

I promise, just one more llama drama mini. My cousin Deb is coming to visit today, and she asked if I would make her a llama mini quilt for her classroom. Of course, I said — no prob llama! (Thanks to Dione at Clever Chameleon for that clever response!)

This little llama really isn’t named yet. That will be up to Deb. This one is a close cousin of Lucille, with the hair and a jaunty bright purple bandana. I used turquoise Grunge for the body.

I think this llama will add some nice drama to her classroom, don’t you?

Deb loves music, so I added a little touch of music to her llama.

Like Lucille, this little mini is a trim 10″ x 20″. I quilted long vertical lines using Aurifil Dove Grey thread. Once again, this took me an afternoon to make. The pattern is so well done, but here’s a tip — you should really read the instructions carefully and pay attention so you don’t have any little pieces left over. I won’t say any more about that, other than that I just added a little personality without realizing it! Haha.

Deb will be here the rest of the week, so there will be a lot of talking and laughing but probably not a lot of quilting. Before I go, though, I’ll leave you with a little discovery I made over the July 4th weekend.

Random Tip of the Day

I have a patriotic quilt I hang each year. It is a lap quilt size. I don’t have a rod pocket for it, because then it would hang too long for the space. So I usually hang it over the rod and secure it with pins. However, I had a lightbulb moment the other day and used a different common household item instead.

More Llama Drama - My tip of the day, in a pinch, bobby pins can be used to hang a quilt, especially a quilt with a dark border - piecefulthoughts.com

My quilt has dark borders, and the bobby pins are barely visible. The quilt hangs in a high traffic area, and the pins hold it securely. While I wouldn’t use bobby pins for a quilt that hangs an extensive period of time, it’s a temporary fix for those seasonal quilts. Just make sure your bobby pins are new and free of rust or snags.
