quilting

Pieceful Monday

Since I’m not going to be at my sewing machine for a few days,  I thought I would post a few pictures of some favorites quilts I’ve made in the past.

This is a quilt made from Minnesota fabrics. I didn’t use any pattern, just staggered the rectangles as I went along. I don’t have a picture of it completely finished with its binding, but it is done.

My husband built this nook for hanging quilts into our bookshelves in our living room. I enjoy changing the quilts out from time to time. This is a simple square in a square pattern. The picture doesn’t highlight the crispness of the colors very well, but it is one of my favorite quilts.

This is a built-in quilt rack that is next to the bookshelves. I can hang two quilts in it, and the rods lift out to access the quilts. The front quilt is a modified Bear Paw pattern; I made it so long ago that I cannot recall the name of the pattern. It was one of the first larger quilts I made. The quilt behind it is a batik quilt that I made at a quilt retreat. Both quilts are lap size.

I made this fun little mini for a quilt swap. It was definitely a change from my usual color scheme, but I had so much fun making it. I used part of a Buggy Barn mini pattern to make the flowers. It is a blend of quilting and wool applique.

Last one for today, this is a quilt I made that was for a Quilts of Valor group. It is a Buggy Barn pattern, which was so much fun to make. Most of the fabric was from my stash, with the exception of the backing. My friend Connie of Turnberry Lane Quilting did the fabulous quilting.

So what am I doing while not at the sewing machine? Well, in route to the conference, we stayed with my brother and sister-in-law. Just back from quilt market, they gave me some wool projects to complete for them. I knew I’d be getting them, so I packed up my supplies and I’m going to try doing some wool appliqué while I’m here.

Happy Monday, friends!

Wendy
