Swap Mini Quilts

I haven’t shown you the mini quilts my swap partner and I exchanged this year. This was my first year participating in the Modern Quilt Guild Mini Quilt Swap. There were 466 participants from 11 countries. Many of the participants met to swap their quilts at QuiltCon this weekend. My swap partner and I chose to exchange our mini quilts by mail.

I’ll start with the mini I made for my swap partner. Our mini quilts were to be no larger than 24″ square. My quilt was just shy of that. It is a little improv piece that I came up with, so no patterns, just going with the flow.

Not surprisingly, this little quilt took many design change journeys along the way. I named it “Isoscies in the Fog” for the Moda Grunge Fog background and the isosceles triangles. And because the day I was sewing it all together, my view outside looked exactly like that background, which made me chuckle a bit.

My swap partner was very gracious, happy to receive it, and said she liked the mini. Phew!

Now, take a look at the beauty she sent to me.

Isn’t that just fun? It’s so jubilant and celebratory! I love it. I will hang it in my guest bedroom because it is always a celebration when friends come to visit.

So there you have it — make a mini, make a friend. If you haven’t participated in the mini swap, you should consider it next year. It’s really quite fun, and you meet new quilty friends!

Thank you again, Evelyn, for the beautiful mini!

Happy Monday, my quilting friends! Enjoy your day!

Wendy
