To Do Tuesday 64

To Do Tuesday 64 – I need to think of more creative post titles! This week has been a busy one here at Pieceful Thoughts. The weather last week turned pretty chilly, and the transition into the fall season really became a reality. This week the temps are back to the lovely 70s once again. Apparently the cooler weather moved me into a cleaning mode, so Saturday was spent organizing/cleaning my quilt room. I moved fabric around on the shelves and shelved the stack of fabric that had been waiting. I went through books and got them back in the bookcase. I filed away patterns, and cleared up my sewing table. It felt so good to get all of that done, and I managed to stay focused without finding new projects I wanted to make. That’s a first, I think!

Earlier in the week, I posted my latest block for the Pieces of the Santa Fe Trail sew along with Melva Loves Scraps. You can see my block here

I also posted my October block for the 2021 Monthly Color Challenge with Patterns by Jen, and you can see that block here

I finished my Two and Four quilt top, and you can read about that here

I also finished up a couple of fun fall projects. Vicki (Vicki’s Crafts and Quilting) recently posted this cute wall hanging, and I got to test it for her. It was so much fun to make!

This cute pattern is called Pumpkin Harvest and is available at Vicki's Crafts and Quilting - piecefulthoughts.com

It went together so easily and quickly. I used wool for the leaves, and added some decorative stitches on them.

I did a little bit of free motion too; it’s a little wobbly, but better than the last time I tried it.

If you are looking for a fun fall mini quilt, you should grab this pattern. You can find it in Vicki’s Etsy Shop

I was in the mood to keep going, so I pulled out a fun little fat quarter that was gifted to me by Mary (Quilting is in My Blood). It’s a fun little cat Halloween print. I used Teri Atkinson’s Tankini pattern to make this little mini.

I was a little sad that I didn’t get the cut right, so the cats in the middle look weird. My daughter looked at it and thought it was a row of cats with bodies – haha! Now that’s all I see!

Isn’t that funny? Sometimes just seeing things from another perspective is helpful.

Okay, back to my to do list. I mentioned last week that my main focus would be the challenge quilt and to get bindings on the three quilts. The challenge quilt is well underway, just waiting for quilting. I’m waiting a bit while I settle on how I want to quilt it. It won’t take long, so I have time. I ignored the bindings once again, so they will be on this week’s list.

So this week, my projects are:

  • quilt the challenge quilt (maybe)
  • bindings!!
  • Mug Rug Blog Hop project
  • Inner Squirrel project (more about this in another post)

And that’s my To Do Tuesday 64 post for today. I’m linking up with Texas Quilt Gal for the To Do Tuesday Linky Party today.

I saw cat bodies too and had to look a long time before I saw what was really going on. Now I’m intrigued by your inner squirrel project. Have fun quilting! (Those bindings — I’m with you on procrastinating on that last step.)

Pumpkin Harvest came out great!! Thanks so much for testing it for me:) Good job on not letting a squirrel chase you away from your cleaning, hehe. Hmmm now that you mention it I see cats with bodies too!

I love love the Two and Four. You’re kinda flying through things these days! The wall-hanging is really fun and those kitties!!! I’m with everyone else, just looks like bodies and with runners, you always set something in the middle so will the little corporal kitties (kitty corpuses, kitty corpi?) even show? (That’s enough coffee for me!) It has definitely gotten colder here, esp at night. Still getting 60’s/70’s during the day. Just one more week of craziness here and then maybe I can get caught up on posts and yes, my cleaning and definitely the organizing–something I used to be so fanatical about but, well, quilting! Have a glorious week and get lots of fun stuff done!

Hi Wendy! I agree with Molly – I thought you planned it that way to make the center cats look like they had bodies. Very cool! I love the different take on the Pumpkin Harvest wall hanging, too. You rarely see that shape for a hanging – and that striped binding is ooh-la-la! I think your quilting looks fab – don’t be so hard on yourself. {{Hugs}} Finally, I can’t wait to see that Inner Squirrel project. HAHA! ~smile~ Roseanne

You’ve been busy! It all looks good. Love your scrappy 2 and 4 (or whatever it is). I have a lot of catching up to do at this end. I have a mostly free day today, so I’m hoping for plenty of sewing time.

Love the cat table runner! I see what DD says about looking like cat bodies in the middle! I wouldn’t have noticed if you hadn’t mentioned it. I’ve decided I like to keep my blog posts simple–when I used fancy/creative titles I realized I couldn’t look back and find things from the past–the titles were too clever!

You have been busy! Good for you, all that organizing and cleaning up in the sewing room. Mine is due for some of that, too. I love your version of Vicki’s pumpkin wall-hanging! I think your snowman one of hers inspired me to use a blue background for mine. I just bought that fabric yesterday, so time to get started on it!

“Inner squirrel” sounds so Zen. 😉 Enjoyed getting to see the two by four again. I’m starting something this week with that in mind. Love your pumpkin mini (the FMQ looks wonderful) and the kitty mini!
Thank you for linking to To Do Tuesday! 🙂
