quilting

WIP Week

It’s been WIP week around here. I’m trying to get caught up with stitching on some of the QALs I’ve joined. There are no progress pictures to show you, though, other than stacks of blocks and strips of material.

Let me show you my Wayward Transparency top and my Magnolia Mysteries top. I haven’t posted them since I finished them.

Wayward Transparency

WIP Week - My version of the Wayward Transparency QAL named "Solar Flare" - piecefulthoughts.com 2018

I’ve named this quilt Solar Flare. It is probably the most intensely colored quilt I’ve ever made, and I love it. The Kona fabrics are Chinese Red, Flame Orange, and Orange.

I found backing fabric a week ago when we went up to the cabin. When I saw it, I knew it would be just right to fit the colors and the name of the quilt.

I haven’t decided if I’ll quilt this myself or have Connie work her magic on it.

Magnolia Mystery Quilt

WIP Week - Magnolia Mystery Quilt, my version - piecefulthoughts.com 2018

This was my first mystery quilt, and I found it interesting to be stitching and not knowing what it was going to look like. I am very happy with the quilt. I like the unusual layout with the negative space. It will be fun to see what Connie does with it.

Although the background fabric for this quilt looks white, is actually a low volume check in gray. It’s a Jen Kingwell print.

Linking up today with Quilt Fabrication and Sew Fresh Quilts.
