Batik Runner and a Winner!

Today’s post is all about a batik runner and a winner! At the end of this post, I’ll announce the winner of the Topsy Turvy digital pattern from Sew Preeti Quilts, so stay with me to meet the winner!

A few weeks ago, I won a fun little bundle of Island Batik fabrics from Emily of The Darling Dogwood. The photo above shows three of the fabrics, and I’ve had fun making a little runner with them. To make this quick little runner, I used the Rail Splits pattern by Pieced Tree Patterns. The pattern was quick to cut and quick to sew. I finished this in an afternoon.

This little runner measures 8-1/2 inches x 48 inches. You can see that it just fits on my dresser.

The trickier step for me was the backing. I managed to piece the backing using another coordinating fabric from that little bundle, along with some left over strips. You’ll also see that I used two of the fabrics for the binding.

For the quilting, I used the serpentine stitch with Aurifil variegated thread 40 wt in Desert Dawn (#4648) and spaced the rows of stitching about an inch apart.

Variegated thread is so much fun to use. I enjoy seeing what colors come forward and which blend in.

Topsy Turvy Winner

On Monday, when I shared my version of Topsy Turvy, a new pattern released by Sew Preeti Quilts, I mentioned a giveaway for one Topsy Turvy digital pattern from Preeti. I’m pleased to announce that the winner is Rochelle Summers!! Congratulations, Rochelle! I have sent your email address to Preeti and you should be hearing from her soon!

I hope you enjoyed this post about my little batik runner and a winner. My thanks to Emily of The Darling Dogwood for the fun fabric, and thank you for stopping by!
