Current Projects

My design wall is a bit empty, I have just a couple of current projects underway. Several of the past works in progress have been finished. Here’s my list from my last Weekly Wips 2 post.

  • Finish the challenge quilt – Done! Reveal on February 1st
  • Keep working on SAHRR – Ongoing
  • Put binding on Fireside (I cannot wait to show this to you!!) – Not yet
  • Participate in Project Quilting challenges – Challenge 15.1 and 15.2 done; Mystery Quilt done (reveal coming Friday)
  • Maybe finish that UFO??? – Done!

Of that list, two projects (SAHRR and Project Quilting) will ongoing for a few more weeks. Meanwhile, I wanted to start some new projects to fill up some of those gaps on my design wall.

For several years, I’ve followed along as many of you have done the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, I have waffled back and forth each year, but this year I’ve decided to give it a try. It has taken me awhile to figure out what block I wanted to do. I wanted to keep it low key, simple and fun.

A gathering of little improv fish quilt blocks in blue and green - piecefulthoughts.com

This little fish block idea comes from Nicholas Ball’s book, Inspiring Improv. They are quick and fun to make. The RSC color this month is green. My background color for all of the fish will be blue. I have 13 fish so far, I’ve just been making them here and there, in between other project work. So far, my blocks are pretty small, the largest being 4″ x 7″. I’ve just been making them the size of the scraps I have. Once all the fish are done at the end of the year, I’ll just puzzle them together into a quilt top. We’ll see how well I do at keeping up with this!

I think everything should go swimmingly for the remainder of this week. Here’s my list of current projects to work on:

  • Bind Fireside and Firm Foundation
  • Next Border for SAHRR
  • Project Quilting Challenge
  • More fish?

That should keep me busy and fill up the design wall a little bit! I’m linking up today with:

What current projects do you have on your design wall?
