Fab Farm Friends

Three Fab Farm Friends met up last week, and it was so much fun. I thoroughly enjoy my online community of quilting friends, but it’s even more fun when we can meet in person. But first, let me show you my Fab Farm quilt top.

Earlier this year, Kathleen McMusing offered a sew along using Elizabeth Hartman’s Fab Farm quilt pattern. I couldn’t resist joining in, each of the animal blocks were so cute. When I last posted, the blocks on my design wall looked like this:

Now the quilt top is finished.

I went with an unusual background color, just to see how it would look. I used Grunge in Sweet Lavender. I think it worked pretty well, something a little different!

Nancy of Grace and Peace Quilting joined in the sew along, too. Both she and Kathleen have their quilts finished. You can see them over at the linky party at Kathleen McMusing. We were three Fab Farm friends, each making our own little farm quilts. As a fun twist, Kathleen happened to be coming through our area, and Nancy and I were able to meet up with her. Here’s a photo of the three of us at a local quilt shop.

We shopped a little, talked a lot, and the time went far too fast! Thanks, Kathleen and Nancy, for a fun day!

I hope to have my quilt finished soon!

All the farm animals are cute but, there is something about the little goat that said cuteness over the top. The background fabric lets the animals pop. Share your final quilted piece when it’s done. Happy sewing.

This animal farm looks so cute and lovely. And as always as grunge fabric lover, perfect choice for the background. All animals are perfect sewn, my favorite is the sheep, please extra food for her!
I love the picture of you three! Get together with people you like and have something in common is so good for our soul.
May be big distances you live and this makes it special to fix a date you can really met!
    Happy for your fun day.
    Enjoy rest of the week

You inspire me to be more free when picking out backgrounds, because I just love the Sweet Lavender! That quilt is just a fun quilt, and I love your version. Your meet-up looks like so much fun. Most importantly, where did you eat? 😀

Wendy, this turned out so cute! I’ve enjoyed following along as you shared the different blocks. I really like that Grunge for the background – it was a great choice. How fun that the three of you could meet up, too! I bet you had a great time together with so much in common.

LOVE love love the background choice! I keep trying to push the boundaries with backgrounds–sometimes I do but most of the time I just forget, don’t have it in my stash or, if I’m at the LQS looking at one, I back down. But the few times I’ve done it, I have loved it. Anyhoo, I think you nailed it there and your quilt looks amazing. That’s an awesome photo of you three and I am super jealous! Bet you guys just had a great time, and that looks like an inspiring shop btw!
