Making Progress

I’ve been making progress this past week, so let me catch you up. I’m joining in with Carol, Brenda and Melva for their weekly linkups where we share our progress, thoughts, and pretty quilt projects.

Last week, my goal was to finish Firm Foundation, and I got it done. Here’s a photo, taken at the end of the day, so it’s not a great shot.

Firm Foundation is a quilt pattern designed by My Wandering Path. The fabrics are the Songbook line from Fancy That Design House. The quilt top finishes at 66″ x 88″. It’s just a wee bit long for my design wall!

Wilbs kept me company while I worked on those sashings and borders. He likes having his bed on my cutting table, where he has a nice view.

Ignore that mess behind him on my shelves. I’ve got several WIPs stacked up there, along with some fabric that needs to be shelved.

Since I was so happy to be making progress and finishing Firm Foundation, I had a little fun and stitched up two scissor keeps.

This is a pattern from Sotak Handmade. I followed her tutorial on YouTube (she gives a link to the template, too). (I’m not affiliated with her in any way, I just like her patterns.) Deb Jeske of A Quilter’s Table made a few, and she inspired me to give them a try. I haven’t decided if they are good enough for gifting yet, but they were fun to make.

With the finish of Firm Foundation, I’m ready to start making progress on a few other projects.

  • My next challenge quilt for The Endeavourers is due February 1st, so I need to get started on that. I think I know what I am doing, or at least I have an idea.
  • You might remember this quilt I made last year. It’s time for me to gear up for this coming year! The SAHRR 2024 is just around the corner. More info on that coming soon, so I hope you make plans to join us.

Wendy, I love your Firm Foundations quilt! What a treasure that will keep a song in your heart. I’m glad you’ll be able to enjoy it, and can hardly wait to see it quilted.

I like the scissor keepers but my favourite is the patchwork one. Wilbur has the best place to keep an eye on everything.

You amaze me! Your quilt looks wonderful! I don’t know how you made such a small scissor keep look so perfect! 🤩

Yay for sticking with it and getting those sashings and borders on FF, looks great! Of course Wilbs likes sitting up high so he can keep a watchful eye on you!!

Your quilt finished up just so pretty. Are you keeping it? It’s one of those super-cozy, homey ones so I think you must! Of course Wilbs loves it up there! If he’s like Chloe, anywhere there’s prime real estate! I just don’t have the space right now (too many projects?) so she’s currently under my sewing desk on the floor. (I put my space heater right next to her so she’d still feel loved tho!). Those scissors pouches are so stinking cute! And yes they’d make great gifts for quilters! The sage-y blue one has the most beautiful fabric!! And stop telling us to ignore your messes! It’s a WORK space!! :oD

Firm Foundation is really lovely, a nice finish for you! I am so glad you included space for Wilbs’ “donut” (as my kitties call it) on your cutting table. 😉 I love the name “scissor keeps” – those are really neat!

Firm Foundation is fabulous and will be so loved. Is it going to be done for Christmas? I can’t wait to see your plans for Endeavor and SAHRR! I need to get a plan going for SAHRR….that is my plan this week. It is nice when you finish something and make a little fun something. I really love that idea and I am sure the scissor keepers are giftworthy
