One Block Wednesday

One Block Wednesday, because I really only have one block to show you. After that, a little story that has no ending, yet.

Hands down one of my favorite BOMs this year has been the 2019 Monthly Color Challenge BOM hosted by Patterns by Jen. Her patterns are delivered promptly around the first of the month, the blocks are simple, use fabrics from my stash, and just plain fun. November’s color was yellow. Here is my block.

I’m just a little giddy over that yellow polka dot. I made this on a very cloudy, dreary day. It was a perfect block to make for a little ray of sunshine.

So that’s my one block Wednesday.

So How About a Story?

Every quilt has a story, right? So here’s the story of this next quilt. It all began with this sculpture, which is outside the Santa Fe library. I took this photo a couple of years ago, while we were visiting.

I knew I wanted to use that sculpture as inspiration for a quilt. The colors I used, however, completely surprised me. Actually, it was more that I had this charm pack and didn’t know what to do with it, so I used it for this quilt. I quickly finished the quilt top.

And it has been sitting in my UFO stack since then. I have pondered how to quilt it, with mild anxiety. So this week, I pulled it out. I ripped it apart, removing the white side pieces.

I cut it up, yes I did. The first cut is the deepest – it’s true. There was a little catch in my breath as I made that first slice.

I am having so much fun. This is going to be a slow process for me. Will you get to see it in its new form? Maybe, if I like it enough!

Happy Wednesday, friends!
