Pieceful Monday

In today’s Pieceful Monday post, I’m celebrating the completion of the blocks for my 100 Day Project challenge. My stack of 100 mini plus blocks are eagerly waiting to be pieced into a quilt top. I hope to have it ready to show you soon. This was such a fun project! I’m a little sad to be done with sewing my mini block each day, but ready for a break too. You can see all 100 blocks on my Instagram feed (@piecefulwendy).

I also finished my three churn dash blocks for the month of July. The block on the left measures 9.5 inches; the other two are 12.5 inches. It’s time for me to begin drafting the layout so I know which blocks I need to be making for the next 6 months.

Did you see Cooking Up Quilt‘s pattern for this cute casserole hot pad ? It’s been on my list to make, so I made it happen this weekend. I had this cute fat quarter fabric that I picked up on one of my trips. It’s perfect for it, don’t you think?

The hot pad is a nice, generous size (the dish in my photo is approx. 7″ x 9″) and the layers make it nice and thick so it will protect the countertop.

I kept the quilting simple, but I couldn’t resist adding some squiggly lines between the straight ones, just for fun.

And I like that it’s reversible, too!

All of the fabrics came from my stash, and I was happy to find I had some Insul-Brite on hand too. Don’t you love it when you have everything on hand and you can just sew?

Happy Pieceful Monday, everyone! I hope you have a good week ahead. My week looks hot and humid, with a good chance of sewing!

100 days over! wow I have enjoyed watching these little blocks being made.
I need to check and see if I have more of the Insul-Brite stocked away – I like to use it for hot pads and extra large mats for the table for the hot dish to go on.

Congratulations on your 100 day project being completed and having 100 fun blocks to put together! I love your little hot pad and it will be fun to see the churn dash layout, too. One busy quilter you have been!

I love your churn cash blocks. Interestingly, your plus blocks were the first thing to appear on my Instagram feed for months, I think. I’ll miss seeing those colorful photos when I open that app. Now I’m looking forward to seeing the finished quilt top.

It is wonderful feeling to find everything you need for a project in your stash! Congratulations on your 100 day project; it’s been nice to see them in my IG feed, and I look forward to seeing how you put them all together.

I saw this tutorial also and plan to make a few of them. I have so many cute fat quarters that I bought just because I like them. It will be fun to use them up. I am thinking of doing a little stack of them for easy holiday treats. Hmmm, should I do some in holiday fabric too?

Also – Wendy – congrats on the 100 day project. That is so cool! I was wondering. Did you cut ahead so you would have your pieces ready to go on some days? Just curious. Well done!

It looks like you’ve been having fun with a variety of projects, Wendy! Congratulations on finishing your 100th block – looking forward to seeing what happens with those. I love seeing the churn dashes, too – the different sizes you’ve made are going to become an interesting quilt! And I really like the casserole mat – it’s definitely nice when you can pull everything out of your stash to finish up a little project like that. Happy Monday! 🙂

Congratulations on finishing your 100 blocks! That is a huge accomplishment! It will be so fun to see them all in a quilt. Yay! And your casserole hot pad looks fabulous! Yes, I do love it when I have everything on hand to make a project. Same thing when I have everything in my pantry to try a new recipe. LOL I love that you added squiggly lines of quilting between the straight lines. Super cute Wendy!

That is the perfect fabric for a casserole dish hot pad! What size quilt will your 100 mini plus the blocks make? They are all so cute and colorful I can’t wait to see that finished quilt!
