Sewing with Eva

I’ve been sewing with Eva, and we’ve made something cute to show you. Many of you will remember Eva, who joined in the Stay at Home Round Robin and made this quilt. Eva and I have become good friends through our love of fabric and quilting. We have never met in person, and we live oceans apart, but we chat with each other by email often. I hope that maybe someday the two of us can meet face to face!

One day Eva sent a pic and said that maybe we should make this fun little sunflower block. I said sure – and off we went. We were using this free pattern from The Crafty Quilter. Now, before you pass over it thinking it’s just another sunflower block, take a look at its construction. There’s an interesting little twist!

Here’s Eva’s version:

Isn’t Eva clever, using sunflowers in the center square, and little sunflowers in the corner blocks? It’s such a happy, sunshiny flower!

Here’s my version:

I thought the Kaffe center was fun, and those psychedelic green squares made me chuckle.

The blocks measure 14-1/2″ square unfinished. Eva has ideas of what she’s going to do with her block. I’m still thinking about mine – I’m considering a pillow, but I may end up with a mini quilt. You’ll have to wait a bit for the finished product, but I’ll post them once they are done.

I hope to be sewing with Eva again soon – she comes up with some fun ideas!
