Stars of the Forest Table Runner

My Stars of the Forest Table Runner is the result of a recent purchase. Have you seen the monthly Blogger Bundles over at Needle and Foot? Each month, Bernie offers a bundle of fabrics curated by fellow bloggers. You can read more about them and see the bundles here.

I have been thinking about how to use the fabrics from the October bundle. Stars came to mind and I made this little table runner.

Kim Lapacek of Persimmon Dreams curated the bundle for October. As I was writing this post, I went to see what she had created and was surprised to see . . stars! Honest, I don’t recall reading her post until now. Our stars are similar with the use of the forest animals as the center block. Her stars are larger (and more fun). Bernie has a link to Kim’s post, so go visit Needle & Foot, then go visit Kim.

One of the fabrics in the bundle is a lovely print with forest animals, deer, fox and hedgehog. I used that fabric as the center of the stars, because the animals really are the stars of the forest, aren’t they? I purposely cut the squares to show as many of the animals as I could.

The rest of the fabrics in the bundle are lovely autumn colors, and I used them for the star points. I wanted to offset the stars, so I used a strip of the forest animal fabric to do that.

The stars finish at 8 inches and the runner measures 10 inches x 32 inches. I plan to finish it with a simple, narrow burgundy binding once the quilting is done. If all goes well, I’ll have a finish to show you soon.

You can find out more about the fabrics in the October bundle and meet the curator at Needle and Foot. (Check out the blue feather fabric. It’s gorgeous!)
