Two More Little Projects

I have two more little projects to show you today, and I hope you are just as curious about them as Wilbs seems to be. I didn’t get my To Do Tuesday post done yesterday, so I’ll be linking this post up with Carol over at Quilt Schmilt for the To Do Tuesday linky party

Tuxedo’s Tales

In my last To Do Tuesday post, I mentioned that I would share about Tuxedo’s Tales in another post, and this is it. Tuxedo’s Tales is a block of the month pattern by Bonnie Sullivan. I got my set of patterns from Barbara (Cat Patches), and you can see her cute version of the quilt in this post

In the original pattern, Tuxedo is a black and white cat. In my version, any guesses what color the cat is?

As you can imagine, Wilbs is quite happy with this block. I wasn’t able to get a photo of him with the block, however. Mostly he just sat on top of it while he chattered with me about life. Here’s a closer view so you can see some of the detail a bit better.

This is a personal block of the month for me in 2023. The background fabric is a layer cake of black 10″ squares I won a few years ago. Wilbs and the monthly design will be stitched in wool. The colors of Wilbs, his muzzle, nose and eyes will be consistent in each block. It’s an enjoyable project to work on in the evenings.

Testing! Testing!

Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of testing this pattern for Vicki’s Crafts and Quilting. The most recent of Vicki’s banner quilts, this one is called Luck of the Irish, and you can read Vicki’s pattern release post here

Vicki has several of these little banner quilts for different seasons and holidays. They stitch up so quickly, and are perfect for your front door or that place in your home that just needs a little something.

I did a little fancy quilting in the flying geese, then basic diagonal quilting for the rest. I used the black fabric strips, because it has a sparkly shamrock design – perfect, huh?

You can grab your copy of the pattern through Vicki’s Etsy Shop (see link above). Whip it up this weekend, and you’ll be ready for St. Patrick’s Day!

My To Do List for this Week

I have two main tasks for this week:

  • Sew up my border for the SAHRR quilt along. I’m hosting for the second border, and it will be fun!
  • Take photos and write up my post for my Endeavourers Challenge quilt – I cannot wait to show you this!

Villa Rose Designs Fast & Fun Blog Hop

The VRD Fast & Fun Blog Hop is still going on, and if you haven’t checked out this Hop, don’t miss it! Not only will you find lots of inspiration on how to use those VRD patterns, but you can get your name in for the giveaways – one of the largest giveaways I’ve seen. You can get a peek at the prizes and read up on all the details here. You can see my post for the Hop here. Today’s schedule for the Hop:

The Crafty Quilter
Jo’s Country Junction
Keepsake Quilting
Stitchin At Home

I’d appreciate it if you would stop by and take a look at their quilts for the Hop. (Several of Jo’s followers have  left comments on my post, and I’d love to return the favor.) While you’re visiting each blog, be sure to leave a comment – the more posts you comment on, the more chances to win.

Well, this ended up being more than just two more little projects, but thanks for sticking with me to the end of my post. I hope I’ve inspired you to stitch up something fun!

Happy stitching,

Wendy

I love your Tuxedo Tales block! The green button eyes draw me in. Wilbur on your sewing machine gets me every time. He is curious! The wool Wilbur blocks are the cat’s meow 😻

Love your Wibb’s Tales block! That is going to be such a fun quilt to watch come together. The banner turned out beautifully too. Looking forward to seeing what you have planned for the second prompt for SAHRR. I’m madly trying to finish my spools for this week.

Oooh the snowman is too cute! And the shamrock! Sheesh, you’re ready for St. Pat’s already! You really have been so busy on your projects! Way to go!

I thought maybe Wilbs was checking the stitch length? The orange tabby tale is wonderful and the Luck of the Irish banner is really nice, especially with your fancy quilting.

Wilbs is so cute hanging over your machine. I miss having my sewing buddy doing the same. Both of your little projects are cute. I like a small project in between the big ones. Small things tend to be quick and satisfying to finish.

Tuxedo Tales starring Wilbur looks like fun! I’ll enjoy seeing each block you make. Love your version of Vicki’s wall-hanging, too. The bright greens and the shamrocks on black are perfect for the look of it. I can’t believe all the comments on my Villa Rosa post – amazing! The ones that say “Jo sent me” crack me up!

Love the addition of the Wilbur block to keep the real Wilbur company! Thanks again for testing for me, I love how your shamrock hanging came together! Always fun to see it in a different color.

Hi Wendy! I am so looking forward to seeing the next Wilbs project! Tuxedo Tales is just perfect – those eyes. I’m glad he didn’t fall off your sewing machine checking out what you were doing. Good luck with your list this week. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

Hi Wendy: I too have a ginger (or two) that are great helpers in the sewing room, especially if you need a paper weight so your pieces don’t move. LOL! Tuxedo Tales! Wow, I have that pattern in my sewing room somewhere. When my house was flooded back in 2017, I have been slowly re-finding old projects so that I can finish them now. Over the two years it took to get my house back, I started a lot of NEW projects. I like your idea of using Wilbs as a model for Tuxedo Tales. Love your finished block as well as that nice test banner you did for your friend. Good luck this week!

Wendy your Tuxedo Tales is just the cutest! How perfect to do it in Wilbs colours. Love that newest test you did for Vicki. Thank you for linking with To Do Tuesday. I’m hoping to get caught up on emails, blog hops and reading tomorrow so I might actually get to hop around Villa Rosa’s bloggers. I’d never heard of them but am impressed with what I’ve seen. 😉 Carol
