I Dream of Quilts

I dream of quilts. Do you? So here’s my latest dreamland scheme.

In November, I’ll be participating in my second Art to Fabric Blog Hop. Yesterday, I drew out my quilt plan and started to sew up some improv blocks. (Not sure about those circles . . .)

I was feeling pretty good about getting started on the project. I was thinking through how I would write up my post.

But Wait . . .

Later that evening, while watching a show, I had a change of plan. I decided I needed to change direction. I’ll still put this project together, bit by bit, but not for the Art with Fabric Blog Hop.

So I started looking for inspiration for my project once again, and by bedtime I had it. I knew what I was going to do and had a plan. I was looking forward to getting up today and getting to work!

And Yet . . .

During the night, I was dreaming about that project, and how I should put it together (I do this often). In the middle of the night, I changed direction once again, and decided on another idea. This one I’m sticking with! All I can show you, so far, is the fabric I’ll be using.

When I got up this morning, I was excited about getting to my quilt room and getting to work. My day was wide open for sewing, except for a few things (like dishes) I needed to do around the house.

Squirrel!

As I was cleaning, I was thinking about the project. Meanwhile I was looking out at the dreary, wet weather and the beautiful fall colors of the trees, and before I knew it, a whole new project (not for the Blog Hop) was born, and I had to work on it. Today. It’s not done yet, but I can give you a peek.

If everything goes well, I may have this done by Friday. I hope to be able to show you the finished quilt then.

Speaking of Friday, that is the day I was supposed to be able to reveal my quilt for the Fat Quarter Shop QAL. However, FQS has asked us to hold off on the reveal until we hear from them. So stay tuned; I hope to be able to show it to you soon!

Thanks, Sandra! Those autumn colors just called to me. The colors are peaking so fast around here, I decided to use them in fabric!

Sometimes, a quilt just *forces* us to make it, and that sounds exactly like what is happening to you! Isn’t it fun to have so many ideas to explore? Looking forward to seeing the reveal of your squirrel!

Hi Wendy! You certainly shared some very pretty sneak peeks with us this morning. Oh that latest squirrel looks gorgeous, and does that stack of solids. I just love the tone of the gray and how it just is making the other fabrics look so rich. Can’t wait to see! I don’t know if I dream about quilts but I do think about them when I wake up during the night. That and I draw quilting patterns on my sheet! HAHA! ~smile~ Roseanne

Thanks! Every now and then I just have to drop everything and make it, and this is one of them. I hope it turns out!

You did indeed have a restless day/night, now if only we could figure out how to actually finish them while we are sleeping! I LOVE that last stack of solids. I keep glancing at my solids and wondering what I should make with them, they are mostly fall colors.

Your project looks amazing. I’ve been known to dream of quilting a time or two. Sometimes I’m thinking of fabric as I fall asleep because I want to have sweet dreams. I filled out the survey. Kind of a weird survey since some of the answers boxed me in to giving an answer that didn’t really fit. Kind of makes you wonder what they’re trying to learn from it.

I don’t know if I dream about quilting, but I definitely wake up in the night and think about projects and ideas! That is infinitely preferable to the sleepless nights I used to have worrying about my 5th grade students. It looks like you have lots of fun ideas to work on. I’ll look forward to seeing more about them!

You do have a lot of dreams don’t you? It’s all part of the process to change your mind again and again and you are obviously thriving on it. You haven’t given much of a clue but I love those fabrics.
