To Do Tuesday #22

I’m on To Do Tuesday #22, and joining up with Home Sewn by Us for the To Do Tuesday linky party this week. Here’s what I had on my list for last week:

  • Begin work on The Endeavourers challenge quilt due August 1st
  • Decide on project for the Christmas Then and Now Blog Hop

Both of those projects are underway, although the challenge quilt is living up to its name. I’m still pondering what I will do for that. I have an inspiration piece to work from, but the inspiration is slow in coming.

The Christmas Then and Now Blog Hop, hosted by Just Let Me Quilt, is coming up at the end of July.

Do you ever come up with one idea and end up with another? One morning, while drinking my coffee, I came up with an idea for a project for this blog hop. In the shower, I changed to another idea. I went to my quilt room, and came up with another idea. I looked across the room, and ended up making a completely different project than any of the above. All of those ideas came to me within 30 minutes. Please tell me you do this too? Anyway, the project is almost done, and I’m liking it much more than I thought I would.

To Do Tuesday #22 - I'm still getting distracted making pincushions - piecefulthoughts.com

Meanwhile, I’m still getting distracted making pincushions. All three of these designs are from the Pin Pals book by Carrie Nelson. All of the fabrics are from my scrap bins. You saw the flag pinnie last week, and if you follow The Academic Quilter you saw the little three house pinnie now keeping her company. The cube pinnie is made from Maureen Cracknell fabric, and it was fun to make.

I’m still working on my mini plus blocks, and I’ve started piecing the top together. I also pieced a few blocks for a couple of ongoing projects that have gotten lost in the shuffle. I was so busy piecing the blocks, I didn’t even stop for photos.

So that brings us to this week. I am enjoying just working on whatever I like each day, but making a list does help me stay on task with projects that need to be done. This week’s list:

  • Final decision on challenge quilt and get to work
  • Finish blog hop projects and take photos
  • Make a list of projects I still need to post

Thanks to Roseanne and Sue who host this linky each week, so I can get my must-do projects done and still have time to play with the squirrels! Thanks to you, too, for reading this far on my To Do Tuesday #22 post!

I love those pin cushions – so tiny. I don’t change my mind as fast as you did but frequently I have started a quilt and then thought why did I start this I don’t want to make it anymore

What adorable pin cushions! I love them! Wendy–isn’t getting distracted by other projects–no wait there’s a new idea–wait what was I doing? I must be a quilter!!! 😀 LOL!

I understand how fast the mind can transform (or transfer) one idea to another. It is good to know that the creativity is still flowing, isn’t it.

Hi Wendy! I love your little pinnies but I am really, really, really, REALLY looking forward to seeing all of your plus blocks come together. You have shared such cute photos of all of them that the end project can’t help but be fabulous. Good job on all of your projects . . . and yes, I definitely come up with one idea and then change course one or two times minimum. Thanks so much for linking up today. ~smile~ Roseanne

Those pincushions are so cute! Another thing to add to my Must Do List! I had thought I was the only one that had my mind changed 2 or 3 times while making projects for blog hops! It’s nice to know I’m normal. Wonder how many of us will have 2 or 3 completed projects for the end of the Christmas in July Then and Now Hop? 😉 Carol

  • Quilting is in my Blood

Your pincushions are wonderful! I can definitely relate to having my mind jump from one design idea to another and then to another. Unfortunately, this often can happen when I’m trying to sleep! Looking forward to the Christmas Now and Then blog hop. Take care, Mary.

Oh yes, I also get too many ideas at once sometimes and this can be very distracting. Am looking forward to seeing what you are making for the challenge. Thank heavens for lists!

All the time! I think I will do this, no that, no that but then there’s no time. Egads, how crazy is this that is takes so long to decide. Look forward to seeing what you are creating!

Cute pincushions! You basically described my creative process, though for me that burst of ideas comes after a length of a dry spell of being stumped. So glad you are liking your project!
