I Like Thursdays #7

It’s been a good week so far, despite having to say goodbye to my daughter after a fun visit. I Like Thursdays #7 has a few goodies in it though. I hope you’ll enjoy my little chatter. I’m joining LeeAnna, host of this fun weekly party, as well as the others. If you are enjoy my post and want to read more like it, hope over to LeeAnna’s blog and read her post as well as the others. It will brighten your day.

Croissants. Martha’s is a wonderful little French bakery near us. Only open on Friday and Saturdays, every now and then we pop over and pick up some pastries for breakfast. This is the almond croissant, in all its incredible light flaky layers. (The plate is 9″ in diameter.)

It was gloriously delicious with a cup of dark roast coffee!

My hydrangea tree. I posted a photo earlier this year, but this tree is just lovely when the blossoms get tinged with this pretty pink.

Even in the wet, drippy weather we’ve been having, the pink just glows.

The Durrells in Corfu. We just discovered that the next season is available to watch on PBS. We thoroughly enjoy this show. It’s a nice break from all the other intense shows we tend to watch.

Books by Peter Mayle. I’ve enjoyed his books ever since reading A Year in Provence years ago. That particular book was one of my favorite reads. He has a gentle sense of humor and his storytelling reminded me of the quirks of living in a small community.

Thread catchers. This one is a different sort, given to me by my sister-in-law. This one picks up threads off my clothes, so when I leave the house I don’t look like I’m molting. It’s a simple little thing, but pretty effective.

Slide it onto your hand, like so.

And brush the white underside over your pants and/or top, or wherever the thread has gathered. The threads stick to it rather than your clothing.

Pretty nifty!

Chocolate. I do love chocolate, especially dark chocolate. I will often have 4 of these chocolates while I’m watching a show in the evening. Just 4, and usually in that order.

That’s my I like Thursdays for this week. Tell me, what is your favorite nighttime snack?

Hi Wendy! OH MAN, that croissant looks SO delicious. I can see how light and flaky it is just from the photo. I’m sure it tasted even better than the picture looks! That thread catcher looks pretty darn nifty. Hmm – LQS shop would have it? Or good ‘ole Amazon I suppose. HAHA! Are the colors significant of the type of chocolate? Like with caramel or not? We have a handful of peanut butter M&Ms most nights after dinner. Sometimes it’s a small handful, like six, and other times it’s as many as I can grab. Now we play a game of even/odd and almost every time I pull out an even amount. It must be the size of my hand and the size of the candy! Happy Thursday to you, my friend. ~smile~ Roseanne

I share quite a few of your Thursday likes!
Along with dark chocolate, almond croissants are amazing and those look incredible. Next time you are in Duluth try Duluth’s Best Bread’s almond croissants and their cranberry wild rice bread!
The hydrangea tree is beautiful! My flowers have lasted so long this fall – until last nights wind and rain. We are glad no snow this morning!!

  • Vicki in MN

Wow that is one big croissant! Oh gosh I have so enjoyed my hydrangea tree so much this year, mine are dark pink now. If it ever stops raining I’ll have to snap a pic.

  • Barbara

We like those Dove chocolates too. We usually have three with our afternoon espresso. Sometimes I want more, but I look at the clock and wait five minutes. If I still want another in five minutes, I’ll have another, but usually, the urge has passed.

  • Needle and Foot

You and I would get along just fine…. love the croissant and the Dove chocolates! We have the dark chocolate and peanut butter version right now. :-). Do you have a source for the lint grabber? That looks great. I am constantly picking threads from my clothing!

  • My Sewful Retirement

Wow that croissant is huge and looks yummy! Your hydrangea is beautiful and the thread catcher looks interesting! My hubby would be envious of your chocolate choices which is his night time snack also….me on the other-hand loves a glass of Merlot!

  • Diann Bottrell

Beautiful hydrangea, Wendy! They were blooming all over Oregon, too. I wonder if they grow in Colorado – I’ve never had any. Yummy croissant, and yes on the dark chocolate – I love Dove chocolates, but also Dark Choc Hershey’s Kisses. 🙂 Fun post!

What a fun list! Your hydrangeas are beautiful! I don’t think I can grow them here- too hot and dry, but I love seeing them when I travel. And your thread picker is cute! I’ve given up hope, not just for threads but dog hair too. I think I’m just fuzzy!

Ooh – wonderful likes! We were excited to watch the first episode of the new Durrells last night. What a neat thread catcher. Mmm… Dove chocolate is so nice.

  • Colette

The thread catcher looks awesome. Gorgeous hydrangea. My mom likes the Durrells. Right now I have her sucked into McCleod’s Daughters. I love Dove chocolate.

  • Jocelyn Thurston

Very nice bakery treat! I like your restraint with your chocolate treats…I’m pretty good about not overindulging, just some times.
One of the bigger hydrangea bushes here also turns pink with the cooler temperatures. I love it.
I could really use that link picker doohickey.
    Enjoy your weekend, Wendy.

yes, we’re already into this season of Durrells… isn’t the mother character deliciously quirky? All of them. Hydrangeas in pink, I wanted the purple ones and had blue ones in MD but non here. Almond croissants are God’s gift to humans
