To Do Tuesday #15

How can it be time for To Do Tuesday #15 already? I don’t feel that I have been that productive this week, at least not by the looks of my list from last week. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

This week, I found myself working on some projects off-list. So much so that I kept having to look back at my list to see what I was supposed to be working on. Many of you seem to operate much like me, where you may or may not have a list, and you may or may not follow it. The list does provide me with good framework each week, particularly when I have deadlines to meet. This week was one of those. So let’s see how I did, shall we?

  • Finish Challenge quilt – Done!
  • Deli Geese blocks -almost done
  • Bind vintage UFO – Nope.

The challenge quilt took priority this week. I belong to a group called The Endeavourers, and each quarter we are given a theme and challenged to make a quilt based on that theme. This quarter the theme was “scene from a book”. Here’s my challenge quilt, in all its unique beauty. Watch for a post soon, giving you the background to this interesting little piece.

My deli geese blocks for March and April are almost done. However, I may have to redo the March blocks. They are too bright and don’t play well with the other scrappy blocks. So I set them aside for now.

The vintage UFO is still waiting for binding. I am determined to finish it this week. I have a blog hop quilt due tomorrow, so that has been taking up my time. I’ll be binding that tonight, so the next binding to go on will be the vintage UFO.

This week’s list:

  • Finish Vintage UFO
  • Sandwich and baste test quilt
  • Monthly Color Challenge Block
  • Monthly Churn Dash blocks

So that’s it for my To Do Tuesday #15 – this list should keep me busy this week. I’m sure I’ll sneak in some other projects between those. It just wouldn’t be a usual week if I didn’t – ha!

I’m linking up with Roseanne and Sue from Home Sewn By Us for their To Do Tuesday linky party. Those two get quite a bit done each week, so I best get crackin’!

What’s under your needle this week? I’m curious, so let me know!

Hi Wendy! I think the important thing is that you be kind to yourself and do what you feel like doing! I’m impressed with what you finished one goal from last week! I LOVE your challenge quilt! So pretty!

so often I will make a list and then toss it away and do something completely different. I often times find myself stifled if I make a list and not have the least bit of interest in following it and wonder why I made a list in the first place

I agree a lot of people said they go off the rails and don’t follow their goals to a tee. You know I am one of those so I decided to be more general with my list and it worked better. Not so much pressure, hahaha. I am looking forward to your post on your challenge piece. Hugs.

I used to keep a rigid list of monthly goals, but then it started feeling like a job. I pared it down to something more usable (sew together one top and quilt one quilt per month), and then I filled in around the empty time with other things. The one thing I added last year was Quilter’s Choice, which is my reward for getting my monthly goals finished. It always gets its turn as I rotate through the projects, and it’s nice to give myself space to work on something fun.

You did a great job on your challenge and I look forward to hearing more. One thought about the bright blocks, in a sampler class I always told people to try to integrate more in the following months that will help it work. Not sure how different they are but can you combine any of the fabrics from first few months with the last month in order to push it more to that side…..or have a two side…bright and not quilt. Also, I always told people not to remake until the end…when you can see if there is a way to make it work..Hate to see you need to redo something.

Your challenge quilt looks wonderful, Wendy! I’m looking forward to your post about it, and what book it’s from. I’m like you, I may or may not have an actual list, and I may or may not follow it, but I do feel quite a bit of satisfaction when I realize I’ve actually gotten something done!

Good Morning Wendy! I had a similar week – what I am supposed to be working on? It sounds like a squirrel or two may have found the door open and jumped in. I can’t wait to hear about your scene from a book piece/post! Yay for getting it complete – it’s nice to meet a deadline. Ooh, a blog hop tomorrow?! I can’t wait to see what you have to share. How is my little buddy, Wilbur, doing? He’ll either be a big help or a big distraction for this week’s list. HAHA! {{Hugs}} Thanks so much for linking up today. ~smile~ Roseanne

Wendy your challenge quilt is sweet. Can’t wait to hear the story behind it and see your hop project. Great job on your last week’s list in spite of the squirrels sidetracking you! This week’s list is totally doable. 😉 Carol

I really like your challenge quilt! Am looking forward to hearing it’s story!
Don’t be too hard on yourself with blocks that you think don’t fit. It’s good to set them aside … for now … once you make other blocks, you might change your mind and put them in. They may be the blocks that “make” the quilt!
    Take care of yourself!

Your challenge quilt is wonderful. I’m always amazed at how much you get done. Your lists certainly seem to keep you productive even if you sometimes make different things 🙂

I’m looking forward to seeing more of that challenge quilt – looks like some pretty applique?
I’ve tried lists and no lists, and I guess it just depends on my mood as to what works – hah!
