To Do Tuesday 38

By the time you are reading this To Do Tuesday 38 post, my yard may once again be looking like the above photo. We have a wintry day in the forecast, after a lovely week of temps in the 70s. We made the most of the week, getting all the winterizing done before the winter season settles in for good.

I’m linking up today with Roseanne and Sue from Home Sewn by Us for their weekly To Do Tuesday gathering. I enjoy reading about starts, finishes, and everything in between.

In the quilt room, I had a very busy week, but I have nothing to show you! Last week, I had quite a few things on my list; you can see that list here. Most of my week was spent sewing a test pattern. I liked it so much, I made a second test in a different size. One quilt top is 60″ square, the other 30″ square. I can show you some sneak peeks, though.

You may have already seen this peek on Instagram. I’m testing a pattern for @luckypennyquilts, a new pattern design business owned by two quilting sisters from my local quilt group. This is a very nice pattern, and I can’t wait to show it to you soon.

Here are the fabrics I chose for the second test that is 30″ square.

I went with completely different fabrics for this version, pulling out some of my Civil War fabrics and other reproductions. I’m really delighted with this version, and hope to have it finished to hang after the holiday season.

In between all the sewing, we continue to clear closets and organize. Wilbur has been such a big help (ha!). Here he is checking to see if there’s any more space in that closet. He found himself a bit stuck, but with a little persistence, he found his way out.

Since I’ll likely be stuck in my quilt room today, here’s my list for the week:

  • Block of the Month blocks
  • Pepin Tote QAL
  • Pincushion
  • Clean Quilt Room

That should keep me busy.

I hope To Do Tuesday 38 finds you happily sewing and enjoying things that make you smile. See you next week!

Love those Civil War fabrics and can’t wait to see the whole thing. Does your daughter share your quilting love? Wilbur is so cute! We are waiting for a mild cold front (high 30s tonight) and then a stronger one by weekend. But no snow. 🙁

those blocks look good, nice fabric. I was partly cleaning closets last week by getting rid of a lot of clothing no longer used, but I really didn’t organize it very much – when I look at bags full of things not used and then look back at the closet I’m not sure why it is still so full!! and I don’t go anywhere!

Hi Wendy! I love the snow shot through the screen. No snow, though. Go away! It’s too darn early. Aww, Wilbs. I love you. Yes, sometimes persistence and determination is required to ourselves out of some situations. Wow, your two pattern test fabrics could not be more different. I hope we get to see the reveals on both soon. I hate waiting. HAHA! Thanks for linking up today, my friend. ~smile~ Roseanne

Well, that photo resembled my front yard on Sunday. 4 inches of beautiful white fluffy stuff…But it melts quickly which is good because there are still leaves on the trees and underneath the snow to rake. Your colors for the first quilt are lovely. I’m sure the second smaller quilt will be just a great. And Wilbs, ever the inspector!! What would you do without him to ensure things are right with the world?

awe wilbur you little snoopervisor. IT’s hard to stay consistently productive in one area of life, because there is so much to get into

Looking forward to seeing your test quilts! How fun to have a big one and a mini size! Sounds like we are on the same weather patterns – beautiful last week, but snowed all day yesterday. So we have that snowy scene outside our window today, too. A perfect day for some sewing!

Nothing like a sneak peek to get us interested. I am quietly laughing at clean quilt room. How many times do we put that on our lists and ignore it? Or get one area clean but not the other. I’ve got it on my list too but I need to vacuum mine along with the putting things away…

The fabrics in your sneak peeks look great — can’t wait to see the whole thing. Please post pretty snowfall pictures for your Southern quilter friends. 🙂

I surprised myself when I found I love that Repro fabric pull! I am excited to see the resulting quilt you make with those. We are suddenly dropping into the 20’s at night and I hadn’t thought to bring in my potted geraniums. I don’t think I can save them!! They look awful. We actually watched a little bit of snow fall the other day. Didn’t stick but what a treat just to watch it – California just doesn’t know what to do weather wise. Still doing our rain dance because we need it so badly.
