To Do Tuesday

I had little progress to show last week, so I didn’t get a post done. This week’s To Do Tuesday post has little to show, too, but I wanted to join in with Texas Quilt Gal for her linky party. The last time I posted, I had two projects to work on – my Firm Foundation blocks and my challenge quilt.

The challenge quilt has taken up most of my quilting time since it is due November 1st. It’s coming along, but it hasn’t been easy! Since I can’t show you any of that, I’ll give you a peek at what else I’ve been messing around with.

I’ve long admired the work of Ann Wood, and I’ve been eyeing her crow pattern for awhile. She recently started a sew along for the crow, so I joined in. You can go to Ann’s site here and see what the finished crow should look like. Here’s my progress so far.

I have a ways to go with Harry the crow, but so far it’s been fun. I’m hand sewing him, which is a new thing for me. It’s very relaxing. These are some of the fabrics that I may be using for his wings and tail.

The mottled black in the foreground is its body; the rest will be auditioned for parts of the wings and tail. I may add and subtract from this pull.

I’m also gearing up for the Gremlins, Goblins and Ghouls Blog Hop. My project is all done, but I need to get the photos done and post written.

My to do list for this week is pretty much the same:

  • Finish challenge quilt top
  • Write post for GGG Blog Hop
  • Keep working on Harry the Crow

Are you doing any fun fall-themed sewing? I’d love to hear about it!

Harry the Crow looks like fun – those fabrics will look great! I like that photo at the top of your post. I’d like to be working on some things, but we have a “home health check” nurse coming from insurance this morning. We each get paid in a gift card if we agree to do this, and we like money – lol! But it’s so tedious. Thanks for sharing with To Do Tuesday!

I haven’t seen Ann Woods work before. You’re on a creative adventure! You have a fun fabric pull too — I can imagine those hints of color reflecting from the glossy feathers.

Wendy, thank you for introducing me to Ann Wood’s work, it is amazing and I liked the mushrooms and little mice. Have fun finishing your crow. We have a lot of them stop by in the nut trees on their way south, their black feathers are multi colored in the sun. Your fabric choices will reflect that.

Oooh, I had to sign up to receive the emails. Her work is fascinating! Where do you get the beak and feet for the crow? I might have to get Mr Socks the cat pattern! Good luck on your week! Can’t wait to see the finished crow!

Love the color of the sumac at this time of year!!! Whoa, keep that crow away from Wilbs! I’m looking forward to seeing the projects you’re working on, Wendy.

Wow, that crow looks to be so much fun! Sometimes hand stitching is just the thing. I had a few halloween wool pillows that I had to hide from Percy….you may have to do the same with the crow and Wilbur! Good luck with this fun piece and I look forward to the hop pieces.

What an interesting challenge Henry the crow is. I like the purples you’ve chosen to add to his wings and tail. It’s quite a change of pace from your usual projects. Good to hear that you are enjoying it. Looking forward to more photos as you go along.

First I did not understand what a crow is, then checking the website of Ann Wood and understand. The fabric looks super for the feathers. Yes please, more pictures! And the little mouses of Ann Wood… free pattern… I think I need a chistmas mouse. But the pieces are really tiny. But how nice are all her things. Thanks for the hint! This year is the first year we will have an elf door and I think a little christmas mouse will match perfect to bring food for the elfs.
