Tuesday Tidbits

I have some small Tuesday tidbits to show you today – a couple of small little projects I worked on this week. I’m linking up with Texas Quilt Gal for her To Do Tuesday linky party and sharing my progress on my weekly to do list.

My list from last week was to work on my improv challenge project, and decide on a project for the Queen of Gadgets Blog Hop in September. I didn’t make any progress on either of them. So, what did I do? Well, I took a few sunset drives with hubs in his new truck. The photo up above is proof – you’ll have to take my word for it.

I also did a little bit of organizing in my sewing room. I came across a bag of HSTs left from other projects, so I pulled a few out and decided to sew them up. I had just enough of these 4.5″ HSTs to make this basket block (20″ square). I have no idea what I’m going to do with it, but for now it’s on my design wall.

I also finished this little runner, made up of left over scraps from my version of the Let Your Star Shine pattern by mmmquilts.  I haven’t managed to get that quilt finished yet – it’s been waiting for a year, and I’m still trying to muster up my nerve to quilt it. I decided to use a pink variegated thread (Aurifil Pink Taffy, 50 wt., #4660). I wasn’t sure if I’d like it, but thought I might as well try it, right? I used my walking foot for the quilting. Here’s a close up so you can see the pink thread.

Here’s a peek at the back. I used a solid pink in the bobbin, because I wanted to use it up.

Had to chuckle at the design from this angle. I didn’t intend to make that leaf shape – haha!

Ok, enough of that silliness! This week, I’m going to focus on a pattern test, so more secret sewing. I’ll also keep thinking on that Queen of Gadgets project. We’ll see what I come up with to show you next Tuesday, since all my sewing is secret lately!

Thanks for stopping by to read my Tuesday Tidbits! I hope you are enjoying some fun little projects this week, too!

I think the pink variegated thread looks good on this topper. It’s always a surprise to see what secondary design happens with the quilting!

Love the floral print in your table runner! What’s the new truck–color, make?

Your quilting looks great! As for what to do with your basket…you don’t have to do anything with it. If you had fun making it, then that is enough.

That is a pretty photo from the new truck. Is it a mid-size? Your HSTs look good together. That is a great floral print on your runner and I took a peek at your Let Your Star Shine – gorgeous! Love the look and name of Pink Taffy thread, and your quilting looks good from either side.
Thank you for joining us at To Do Tuesday!

Fun little runner from leftovers. Love the pink! And that leaf! Did not know that you were a secret “hippie.” 🙂 Have fun with your stitching, no matter how secret.

Love the photo! Your quilting on the little runner is beautiful and, yes, what a fun little design it made . We will all anxiously await your secret stitching reveal!!

Hi Wendy! You did a fabulous job quilting that little mini. That pink variegated thread is the perfect choice. That should give you the confidence to tackle the bigger project, right? You can do it, my friend. You can! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

Love the mini and the quilting is fabulous. Great sunset pic and good for you for enjoying rides in your husband’s new truck! Good luck with your pattern testing and week. I turned one down….I am so behind. Hoping to get more and more done but not happening yet!

You come up with the cutest things when you’re cleaning up your sewing room, Wendy! A basket block is fun, and so is the leftover mini from your star quilt. Who knew there was a color of thread called pink taffy? It’s perfect for that project! Looks like you guys had a lovely sunset drive!

  • Laura

Wow! Gorgeous sunset! Perfect for a drive in a new truck (or an old one for that matter)!

I think the pink thread for the little table topper was a genius idea! It sure turned out cute! 🙂
