Tuesday Tidbits

I have just a few Tuesday tidbits to show you today, as I link up with Texas Quilt Gal for her To Do Tuesday Linky Party. I haven’t been in the quilt room much this week; I am anxious to get back in there and play with fabric! Last week, I had a few projects on my list:

  • Quilt Improv Studio Primary Color Challenge – Done
  • Hands2Help – Progress!
  • Improv Quilt Academy Project – Progress
  • Wonderful World of Color Blog Hop Project – Nope

QIS Primary Color Challenge

The quilting is done. I opted for straight line quilting once again, and it felt like it took forever to do, but it really didn’t. This is a larger quilt than I usually make for the challenge, measuring 29″ x 36″.

The binding is attached, and all that’s left is the final stitching. Post coming soon!

MIQA Project

Earlier this year, I signed up for the Modern Improv Quilt Academy with Carole Lyles Shaw. Carole has several workshops she offers within this Academy, with on-demand videos as well as the opportunity to interact with Carole and the others who are participating. I’ve not had as much time to work on this as I had expected, but here is one of my projects as it looks to date.

This is just a layout I’m playing with on my design wall. It will likely change quite a bit yet as I ponder it and move things around.

Hands2Help

My Hands2Help project is coming along well. I don’t have a photo to show you yet, but hopefully soon. Sign ups for H2H begin next week, so I hope you will consider joining in. Mari (The Academic Quilter) has taken up the H2H project this year, while Sarah (Confessions of a Fabricaholic) takes a needed break. Mari has been working hard to find sponsors and prizes – you can read her latest update here

Wonderful World of Color Blog Hop

I have had a difficult time deciding on fabric and what to make for this blog hop. Hopefully I can make a decision soon and get going on this. I didn’t even think to take a snapshot of the fabrics in the running!

TGIFF Thank You

For those of you who linked up with me for TGIFF last Friday – thank you! For those of you who tried to link up on Saturday, but found the linky party closed – I apologize! I messed up the closing time for the linky, which should’ve been midnight on Saturday. I will be hosting again in April, and I’ll try to do better then!

And that’s it for my Tuesday tidbits. I’ll keep working on these projects for this week. That should keep me busy!

I do like straight line quilting, especially when there is so much going on in the quilt with the colors and the improv. Looking forward to see it fully completed. Your other projects sound challenging (ha, ha) but I’m sure you will do them justice, too And with the help of the “stitching supervisor (regulator)” I’m sure they will be wonderful.

Looking forward to seeing that improv quilt finished! I think it could be part of the Wonderful World of Color blog hop, too. Your second improv quilt is amazing, Wendy! It looks like you got a lot out of the class. Have a great week!

Hi Wendy! MIQA is really nifty – I love the layout you’ve shared here. Those fabrics look so cool together – very modern. Those really skinny strips remind me of a paintbrush, filling in an area with the color. Nice job! I hope you don’t worry too much about TGIFF. It’s okay! I’ll bet everyone does that at least once – I know I have. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne P.S. I have that picture of Wilbs on my computer at work, giving me a smile and calm presence.

You must have been teacher’s pet in that improv class – very impressive. The primary color quilt is stunning, and that straight line quilting is perfect. But my main reason for reading your posts is to gaze upon Wilbs’ paws.
Thanks for linking up with To Do Tuesday!

Wonderful work getting the one improv piece to the finish line and a plan for the second. Is that citronickle? Hello to Wilbs the wonderful kittty! I am working on my H2H quilts….hope to do a few when away the first week of April!

I wish I was better at improv. Maybe I’m too old to think like that. But one thing for sure, you are wonderful at it, Wendy. All your pieces are beautiful to me.
