Weekly Diversions

I’ve had several weekly diversions lately, which are happily keeping me from my weekly to do list. I thought I’d show you progress on two of them, and then give you a peek at the newest one.

My version of Merry Go Round, a pattern by Atkinson Designs - piecefulthoughts.com

If you read Monday’s post, you saw this little tabletopper I whipped up over the weekend. I pieced it in an afternoon. You can read more about it here. I gave this little mini to my mother-in-law, something new and fun for her table. She was just delighted, and that makes me happy.

Before I started and finished the tabletopper, I was working on another project. I have the top finished, here’s a little peek. I can’t wait to show this to you!

Are you curious yet? The chocolate brown background was fun to use, but almost as difficult to see as a black background!

My current weekly diversion is this fun mess. I’m doing a QAL with Connie. I gave her a fat quarter bundle for her birthday, and I have the same bundle, so we are having fun doing a little sew along on our quilts. More to come on this, so stay tuned!

It is a fat quarter bundle of Cloud9 fabrics, and they are so pretty and vibrant. I’m looking forward to seeing this one come together.

I’m linking up today with Linda over at Texas Quilt Gal for her weekly To Do Tuesday linky party.

These weekly diversions have been keeping me from my current to do list:

  • Endeaourers Art Quilt (due August 1st) – I’m making progress on this and will work on it this week!
  • Quilt Improv Studio Improv Challenge (due October 1st)- not much progress on this, other than thinking on ideas, and considering adding more fabric to this pull:

Starting to pull fabrics for the next Quilt Improv Studio challenge - piecefulthoughts.com

So my weekly to do list remains the same. We’ll see if I can make some progress on them while inviting other weekly diversions to come along!

What about you? Are you being distracted lately too?

Wendy

Those are the best diversions, especially love that chocolate brown fabric. Glad your MIL was so pleased, it really is a cutie.
Thank you for sharing with us at To Do Tuesday!

OMG a post without Wilbs??? Yes you have my curiosity going with all your projects! Have a great productive week, it’s so nice to see you back sewing;)

You’ve been working on lots of fun things, Wendy! Sounds much better to have “diversions” than “to-dos.” I love the brown background with the pretty fall kind of colors mixed in. (But sorry to hear that sewing with dark brown is challenging…) And the bright plaids in your Connie QAL are so pretty! Looking forward to seeing where you’re going with both of those projects!

A really cute topper and so sweet of you to surprise your MIL with it :o)! I love that brown background and how it makes those other colors pop (and looks rather fall-ish so of course the colors are up my alley). Bravo for diversions!

Diversion!! I desperately need one, Wendy. Thank you for providing such a nice one. Love, love, LOVE the table topper. That sweet binding is the bomb or fire, which is the latest I heard from a 20-year-old. Bomb is probably so 2021. Where, oh where are those geese flying?? Can’t wait to see. {{Hugs}} a whole bunch. ~smile~ Roseanne

Oooh the Cloud9 fabrics look wonderful. The softest and most cuddly quilt I have ever made was all Cloud9 cirrus solids; it was so delightful. Looks like you are having fun with all your projects, the enthusiasm for them permeates the post. It will be fun to see more of each one as you continue to make progress.

Oh my….sew many fun projects. Love your table topper and the flying geese are gorgeous. It will be fun to see what you and Connie come up with since you have similar bundles! Nice to have fun distractions!

You are really teasing us with the “peeks” at your projects! Looking forward to seeing them move along.

Wendy your impromptu projects are beautiful. The table topper must have really thrilled your MIL. I do enjoy seeing the fabric pulls for your next project. I’m looking forward to seeing the results of your and Connie’s QAL.
