Pieceful Life

I Like Thursday

Yay! It’s Thursday and time for me to join with LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color and the rest of my friends who join in to share their likes and laughs for the week.

I had to post the photo of the Snarky Cat panel above – some days I think Wilbs thinks like that – haha! He definitely perks up when I say treat!

Improv Play - piecefulthoughts.com

I’ve lost some of my sewing momentum lately, but I have been dabbling in a little improv, inspired by Cindy Grisdela’s book, Adventures in Improv. All the fabrics are from my scrap bin. This project will be ongoing – I’ll work on it until I run out of fabric or it tells me it’s done.

I also pulled out some gray scraps and made a little mini gingham table runner. It measures 13″ x 23″. It was quick little project and was gifted.

Sandra Healy Designs has released the first of her Nativity blocks, and I was able to test them - piecefulthoughts.com

My latest test for Sandra Healy Designs is the first of her Nativity blocks. Sandra has done some very fun blocks for this group. I enjoyed pulling the fabrics for these three. The background fabric is Grunge Dynasty. You can find the pattern at Sandra Healy Designs

The Weekly Wilbs

I couldn’t find Wilbs one day, and completely missed him on my first peek into the guest bedroom. I had tossed this group of pillows and stuff animals on the bed while I decide where else they should go. There he was — snuggled in like ET! Haha!

How about you? What would you post for I Like Thursday? What has made you chuckle or brought joy to you today?

Hi Wendy! What a stunning block the three Wise Men is! I just love that background – it really lets the three standout and shine. And Wilbs – well, he looks nice and comfy on the bed with the bear keeping watch for him. He’s a character, isn’t he?! Happy Thursday to you. ~smile~ Roseanne

You know I always enjoy seeing your improv. Love the Nativity test block too. Wilbs-I couldn’t see him at first glance either!!

love Wilbur hiding amongst the pillows – we had an inside cat years ago and I would occasionally lose him and find him in the strangest places – even in boxes!

I really love that block, Wendy! The improv sounds like fun. I have a couple of improv books but they are more like controlled improv, though I still haven’t tried it! Guess I’m just a creature of habit! LOL Wilbs is just adorable, looking like all the pillows and animals are protecting him. I love how he snuggled in behind that pillow and in the bear’s lap!

I’m in love with that colourful improv piece. I’m so envious of folks who can create this kind of art which yours is definitely, Wendy.
Look at Wilbs there snug as the proverbial bug in a rug and of course, I had to admire all the quilty projects there too. Beautiful!

That improv piece is SO gorgeous!! I’ve been debating Cindy’s book and wonder if I can make something like this. I can’t take my eyes off it!

Interesting little projects. The improv is very colorful and will brighten those days when the sun just isn’t working right. As for Wilbs, is it possible he is hibernating? He certainly blended in with that collage of pillows and stuffies.

I like your gingham table runner! I have been wanting to try “gingham”, a table runner would be doable. In Wilbs! Snuggly kitty!

That improv piece is going to be a real stunner. I also love the three figures piece. From where I am sitting it does not look like you have lost some of your sewing momentum!
    PS Glad you found Wilbur

Your improv is looking fabulous. I love the grey gingham piece, too. Sandra’s blocks have been really fun to watch be released. Wilbur told you where those things should stay by making his own wonderful napping spot!

For someone who claims to have lost some of your momentum Wendy, you do have some pretty projects to share. Your improv piec is so bright and happy. Your test and gingham runner are so sweet. Too funny that Wilbs just found the right place to snuggle down. Love the quilt on the wall.
