I Like Thursday #40

I Like Thursday #40, forty posts of my likes and things I’m grateful for. You can find the posts of all of us who participate in I Like Thursday posts at Not Afraid of Color. Grab another cup of coffee and read the others’ posts too!

One of the reasons I enjoy writing these posts is because it causes me to pay attention to things around me. Some weeks I do that better than others. Sometimes, like this week, Thursday sneaks up on me and I realize I haven’t been out as much, noticing as much, or photographing as much. I do have a few things to share with you today, though.

I like eating outdoors

One of our favorite things to do in the summertime is go to a restaurant with a great patio. Since we’re not doing that this year, we’ve realized we don’t need to go anywhere other than right out on our deck.

I Like Gnomes

I Like Thursday #40 - I like these gnome dishes - piecefulthoughts.com

Steve & Nita gave me this set of dishes for Christmas, and I love them. Gnomes are kind of a thing in our family. We often gave our mom a gnome at Christmas, so now Steve (my brother) and Nita (his wife) and I carry on the tradition. I actually designed a little gnome mini mini quilt for their quilt shop, and it was a top selling item (who knew?).

I Like Afternoon Shadows

I Like Thursday #40 - I like the beauty of afternoon shadows - piecefulthoughts.com

I like the way the shadows play in my living room as the day comes to an end. There’s a beauty in the sun and shadows.

Weekly Wilbur

I Like Thursday #40 - My weekly Wilbur photo.- piecefulthoughts.com

Even Wilbur likes sunshine and shadows, but mostly naps. On quilts. This quilt is my version of Juggling Act, a pattern by Twiggy & Opal. You can read about this quilt in this post

So I did manage to find a few things to share in my I Like Thursday #40 post. What has made you smile this week?

And I love pics of cats on quilts! I think I need to make a new mini quilt to go on my bed that goes with all the brightly colored triangles. I also really enjoy eating outside, but it’s been too dang hot recently to even think about doing that. I also like your stemless red wine glass 🙂 Have a great day, Mary.

You are definitely swaying me over to the gnome side! I have been trying to come up with a table runner with them. We have had quite a few meals on our deck this year too, although not as many in the last couple weeks of hot humidity:(

Great likes Wendy, your dinner looks delish! Always nice to see Wilbur and on such a pretty quilt! Have a wonderful week!

Good morning Wendy and Wilbur! Sweet kitty – I love seeing pictures of him. The gnomes look so darn cute on that shelf. Do you leave them up all the time? I know I would! I can imagine your little gnome mini quilt was quite popular!! Your outside dinner looks fabulous . . . they veggies make my mouth water. Happy Happy Thursday to you, my friend. ~smile~ Roseanne

your plate is gorgeous! I can smell the scent from here! I’ll have a glass of wine, thanks wendy! I love afternoon shadows too, your photo has depth and mood. Wilbur… I love you you little kitten! snoozing as if you’re not dreaming of trouble to get into

Wonderful shares this week! Looks like a lovely dinner on the “patio”. Gnomes are a favorite of a favorite sister-in-law. She would love your dishes!

Your gnomes are so cute! My mom has a book on gnomes filled with pictures and history and illustrations. I loved looking at it as a kid but haven’t seen it in years. It’s gotten too hot here to eat on the patio, but it was definitely a perk this spring!

Oh, your delicious looking supper made my mouth water. We need to barbeque more. I worry we don’t eat enough red meat for protein.
Gosh, gnomes are popular these days and they are such cute little fellows.
Your quilt looks great especially with such a comfy kitty sitting on it. And he matches that block too.

I like eating outside, too! It has been so hot here that we haven’t done it often, but you’re inspiring me to. Those gnome dishes are adorable – what a fun thing to collect! I enjoy your photos of Wilbur each week – he looks like he’s enjoying that quilt. Our day got busy, so I’m late getting to blog reading – hope you’ve had a great day!

Eating outside can be a great pleasure…especially when the bugs are absent! I love your gnomes, sunshine and shadows and Wilbur!

  • Colette

Cute gnomes… I have a line of fabric to make a quilt for Christmas with gnomes and buffalo plaid. Wilbur you are such a handsome guy. I agree eating outside is awesome.

  • Louise Hornor

That steak looks really good! Yum! Whether or not we eat outside depends on which way the wind blows…literally. A westerly wind points our back deck away from the setting sun, which is much more comfortable this time of year.

  • Linda

I like your plate – looks delicious! I’d head outdoors to eat if it wasn’t so hot. But I’m grateful for big windows to look outside while we eat. Wilbur is a great quilt model.

I love your gnome set. I like gnomes, but oddlt enough, the only gnome item I own is a yard of fabric with gnomes and flowers. We don’t eat on our deck for a number of reasons. I’ll refrain from whining about them since this is an I like post. Have a good weekend.

Sitting on your own deck for dinner is a lovely way to spend time and a great way to adapt to this crazy new way of life. I’ve always loved gnomes, trolls, and gargoyles and have a few left from my years of collecting. So sweet that you carry on the gnome tradition. Thank you for sharing your wonderful likes!

Eating outside is the best! We enjoy our deck, though ti’s getting hot enough I need to turn on the fan for the breeze and to help keep the bugs away. Wilbur sure looks comfy!
