Pieceful Life

I Like Thursday #41

Another week has gone by and it’s time for my I Like Thursday #41 post. I’m joining LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color, who hosts this little party of us who write these Thursday posts. You can find the links to all of our posts over at Not Afraid of Color

I had to do some searching for likes for this post. I haven’t been out much, haven’t been sewing anything I can show, so I’ll show you a few things around my house that I like.

Live Simply, the little sign you see in the photo above, reminds me to cherish the little simple things in life.

I Like Thursday #41 - I like this little flower my husband brought me.- piecefulthoughts.com

Wildflowers. BigJ has been going for walks early in the morning, while I’m still trying to get my eyes open (or not). He brought me back this pretty little flower, one simple little bloom. You’ll see this once again in another post.

I Like Thursday #41 - A beautiful sunset as we waiting to see the comet - piecefulthoughts.com

Beautiful sunsets. Our date nights have gotten simpler too – an evening drive to find the comet in the sky (we didn’t, too much cloud cover). The sunset put on a good show though!

I Like Thursday #41 - A friend sketched this little drawing for me years ago; it's still a favorite - piecefulthoughts.com

Simple Sketches. Many years ago, a friend sketched me this simple little drawing. It’s still a favorite. He’s a friend of many talents – he took our photos at our wedding too.

I Like Thursday #41 - Although I've have this towel holder for years, it's still a favorite - piecefulthoughts.com

Simple Designs. My upstairs bath has a nature woodland theme, I’ve had this towel holder for years. I just like the simple pinecone design. I recall that when I bought them (it has a matching towel bar), I thought I was being terribly extravagant. It was a good choice!

Weekly Wilbur

I Like Thursday #41 - Wilbur tries the sink out for size - piecefulthoughts.com

Wilbur thought he’d try the kitchen sink out for size. Actually he was more interested in the butter on the knife – he got a few licks before it was taken away. Once feral, I’m convinced he prefers scavenging our food over the kibbles in his bowl.

A few likes for my I Like Thursday #41 post. If you’ve stayed with me through this whole post – thanks!

Have a simply good day, my friends!

Wendy

I also appreciate the reminder to be thankful for the simple things. I love the simplicity of bird houses, drives with a loved one, glorious sunsets, and that lovely simple bloom. And the Weekly Wilbur is wonderful! Have a great day, Mary.

I love the simple things in life! glad you are able to get out for evening drives – I need to get my hubby out now and then – he pretty much refuses to go anywhere – I will work on that. the adventures of Wilbur – he could be a post all by himself

Nice. We did see the comet. We waited for a no-cloud day, and then drove out into the country. We waited for about two hours. I’m not sure it was worth it. Binoculars helped, and now we can say we saw it. I think we’ll miss it the next time it comes around.

wilbur!!! you could try leaving him food to find all over the house like the do in zoos…Your simple likes are perfect for this post. We can all relate to a purchase that turns out to be a favorite, to a sunset hunt for the comet (we haven’t caught the comet by the tail yet either) to a single flower that means I’m thinking about you enough to put it into action. I love how life has gotten simpler these days. (Although I miss seeing friends and family.) Love the sketch by your friend. I love all these things!!!

I’ve been meaning to say how clever you are to have your blog all organized and easy to use too. Unlike some where I have to search to find the latest post. Meanwhile, it sure is about appreciating the little and simple things. All meaningful things you shared. Thanks for the tour.

Your post was especially helpful today in that it told me today is Thursday. Honestly, I looked at my blog reader, saw your post and thought – Jeez, is it really Thursday? So hard to know these days….. Hahaha.

I love that your husband brought you that wildflower. What a sweet gesture. 🙂

GREAT LIST OF LIKES. I AGREE-some weeks it’s hard to come up with a list. But you scored. I love that woven bowl by the way.

Aww Wendy, thanks for the Wilbur fix. He looks so darn pretty. I just LOVE the sketch your friend made – he really has a talent. BigJ is a keeper – how thoughtful to bring you a wildflower. {{Hugs}} Happy Thursday! ~smile~ Roseanne

I like the simple likes you share, Wendy, including your sign! A good reminder! Pretty flower, and so thoughtful of Big J. Great sunset – looks very peaceful – something else we all need right now. How old is Wilbur? He doesn’t look very big, which is why I ask. He looks like a nice size! Hope you’re having a great Thursday!

Sometimes we have to work harder to find those simple pleasures. The flower, the rides in the evening, and Wilbur! Such a guy. I, too, love butter and would eat it all by itself if not for all the calories! Thank you for sharing.

I hope the trend toward simplying is long lasting. Now if I could only get my packrat husband to see the light.

Your post reminded me of something that happened last night. I was miffed at my husband over the smallest thing and had held on to my grievance all evening when I heard someone on TV talk about the importance of family and friends and how those were the things we needed to cherish. You’d think at my age I would have learned that lesson by now! I love you simple things, especially the towel holder and the story behind it. And I do love to see Wilbur is a sink cat just like mine are.

  • thedarlingdogwood

I love seeing what Wilbur gets up to! A drive to watch the sunset, even if you don’t get to see the comet, sounds like a perfect date to me!

  • Carol Andrews

Wilbur does provide us with entertainment! Love that sweet towel holder. I did see the Comet. Just walked outside, looked up and there it was. Couldn’t photograph it with my phone or iPad though 😢

Great likes, the simple things sometimes we forget, especially during these times. You know there are some people who have never appreciated a sunrise, or sunset. Sometimes the little things throughout our home can bring us joy too, and appreciating them, seeing the beauty, remembering the purchase/or gifting, or just a great memory involved with that item helps take your mind off of worry. How sweet to get a flower, and it is very pretty.
