Pieceful Monday

Happy Pieceful Monday, friends! It’s been a quiet, but nice weekend here, with some sewing, very hot weather, and rowdy storms. We were safely tucked indoors while the lightning and thunder rumbled on Saturday evening.

Molly was home for a visit, so we got a bit creative with one of BigJ’s old dress shirts. For fun, we put our heads together and made her a skirt. It turned out pretty cute. She added the cute buttons.

It was so simple to do. I cut the shirt, made a casing at the waist, added elastic and it was done except to sew on the buttons. We’re already planning a few more with some plaid shirts.

Pieceful Monday - I was given this pincushion recently, with a 3D butterfly on the front - piecefulthoughts.com

I received this fun pincushion in the mail this weekend. I’m in.a pincushion swap, and some of the members are so creative. The butterfly on the front of the pincushion is 3D; I placed my finger under it so you can see. Turn the pincushion over, and there is a pocket for snips. How creative and lovely! The pincushion is about 5″ square, a nice generous size.

You’ve seen some of my pincushions I’ve made recently, and mine are pretty basic compared to many of them. My most creative pincushion of late has been the cat pincushion you might remember from this post. I’m challenged to get more creative now!

Today begins the Christmas In July Then and Now Blog Hop, hosted by the lovely Carol of Just Let Me Quilt. I’ll be posting on the 31st. Want a little peek of one of my projects?

Hi Wendy, I have been reading and enjoying your posts for weeks. I think you are starting a new trend with the really cute skirt from a shirt. Keep up the inspirations.

I think the skirt is a great idea for re-purposing those shirts that might have worn collars or cuffs-too bad we through out a bunch of DH’s old ones when he retired! But then again I don’t wear skirts:0 Cute cute cute pincushions.

Hi Wendy! How cute and clever to make that skirt from a shirt. Molly looks cute in it and I really like the wavy hemline idea. Adorable pincushion. I would never be that clever but I can definitely see you doing so! ~smile~ Roseanne

Very cute skirt. There’s a woman on Instagram who does those kinds of things…truly amazing. Her name is Sarah Yau, if you don’t follow. Love the pincushions

Super cute skirt, Wendy!!! Clever idea, too! Love that pincushion with a (almost!) real butterfly!! I’m looking forward to your Christmas quilt!

I love all the pincushions. I have not joined as creativity is lacking in that area. The skirt for Molly is adorable, so much fun that you two get to do these things. Looking forward to your stop on the hop, nice tease!

Yay – you got to have a weekend with your daughter. Nothing better!! Love the shirt to skirt project.
I am going to follow the hop and admire the ideas – who knows, maybe I will even get some time to sew!?!

Oh wow!! I LOVE this idea. I think my granddaughter in law would LOVE one. Thanks for sharing your creation.

How fun to repurpose your husband’s old shirt into a cute skirt with your daughter. I also really like the runner from your feature photo at the top of this post and such a pretty bowl (is it glass?) with thread in it. And finally your Christmas blog hop sneak peek has me looking forward to your post later this week. Take care, Mary.

Making skirts from shirts with your daughter must have been a blast! I can imagine the giggles and laughter! That pincushion is sew sweet and I can’t wait to see the other side of that wonderful backing! 😉
