Pieceful Life

I Like Thursday 46

It’s late Wednesday afternoon as I write this I Like Thursday 46 post. The sun is lowering, shining through the trees, making the leaves shimmer and glow. The house is completely quiet, except for the ticking of the clock. I like this time of day.

Each Thursday, well, most of the time, I join in with LeeAnna of Not Afraid of Color and several other quilting/blogging friends and we write a post of things we have enjoyed or been grateful for during the week. It gives us a little peek into each others’ lives outside of the art we are creating. Personally, it helps remember to pay attention to things around me. Some weeks are easier than others.

I Like Thursday 46 - My next read, from a very favorite author! - piecefulthoughts.com

I like the timing of the arrival of this book. I cannot wait to read it, but I’m making myself wait. I need to savor this and make it last. If I start reading it this weekend, I will get nothing else done. We’ll see how long my willpower holds on!

Speaking of books, I just finished reading The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Michele Richardson. Diann (Little Penguin Quilts) recommended it. I enjoyed it very much!

I like trying to outsmart Wilbur. I bought these flameless candles the other day. They are too tall, but will do for now.

I Like Thursday 46 - Candles on the shelf (too tall) to keep Wilbs from jumping up there - piecefulthoughts.com

Wilbur is very adept at jumping on top of our piano. It’s a vintage upright grand. It sits just to the right of the candle on the right of this photo. Wilbs is quite keen on that shelf; you can see him calculating a jump to it from the piano, all the while his tail swishing. We decided we should put something on the shelf to keep him from getting up there. So far, he hasn’t attempted the jump, but you can tell he’s definitely assessing. We’ll see if this works.

Anf that, my friends, is the tail end of this I Like Thursday 46 post!

Enjoy your day, everyone! Thanks for stopping by and reading my post!

Hi Wendy! Well, I will follow the tale of the three candles intently. I suspect they’ll just make Wilbur want to get up there all the more now that it’s lit up for him! What a sweet little tail. {{Hugs}} I enjoy my weekly Wilbur update. ~smile~ Roseanne

He’s a proud cat with a golden tail. And isn’t that just like a cat, calculating a jump like that. He wants to make sure he can do it before attempting it since it would be embarrassing to try and miss.

Thank you for the book recommendations. I love Louise Penny’s Armand Gamache. First I read them in paper form. Then I listen to them when I sew. She can’t write fast enough and I say that about all my favorite authors!! Wilbur will continue to think about that shelf…candles may end up on the floor. I hope he doesn’t get his tail caught in the sewing machine.

Love the flowers in your header. I have something like that in my yard, they have tubers almost like sweet potatoes and man do they spread. Hey a cat’s gotta do what a cat’s gotta do. Love the shelf, and I am sure Wilbur would love the vantage point. Wilbur’s tail is awesome.

So glad you liked The Book Woman! I’m looking forward to the new Louise Penny, too – have to read my book club book first. 🙂 Love your strategy for keeping Wilbur from jumping up there, and that tail! Does he know that’s a dangerous spot?

I’ve been trying to outsmart my buff colored kitty too! He knows how to open drawers!!! And, he knows which drawers might have a rubber band or hair band that he can take out and bat around!

It’s great how everyone is enjoying Wilbur’s adventures especially the tail shot in the throat of your sewing machine. I can definitely relate to often having a “helper” when I sew! Rusty doesn’t mind the noise of my sewing machine at all, but if we turn the vacuum on, he’s outta there!

Very cute tail end! Cats ability to jump like that is remarkable and yes, it requires assessment so I can just picture Wilbur sitting there sizing it all up. Can you believe it is September !?!

Thanks for the heads up on the new Inspector Gamache book. I didn’t realize it was out. Went right to the library catalog and put it on hold. It says its status is reshelving, so I hope they pull the hold list before someone else snags it off the shelf. Love the “End of the Tail”. Cats can be fearless.

Love the tail end of your post!! I have the second book of Louise Penny’s on hold at the library, planning to catch up to the one I first read by reading them in order. 🙂 I have several flameless candles which I love more than the real ones.
