Sprout Baby Quilt

My little Sprout baby quilt is the result of playing around with a pattern from Liz at Savor Every Stitch. Her pattern, Haphazard, is described as “a randomly generated pattern of half square triangles”. When you pull up the pattern, it will walk you through a few choices — colors, block size, etc. and at the click of a button, generate a pattern for you. It’s very easy to use right on her site, you can design a pattern of any size and color, and it’s free. All she asks is that you give her the credit for the pattern. Thanks for the fun, Liz. I enjoy this pattern very much!

For this little baby quilt, I used Kona Sprout (hence the name), Kona Maize, and Kona White.

Here’s a peek at the pattern I generated from Liz’s site.

Here is my finished quilt top. I wanted to take a photo of this little quilt outside today, but we had a downpour just before I finished, and everything was wet and muddy. Taking a photo on my quilt room floor just isn’t as nice, but it will have to do for now.

This little baby quilt measures 36″ square. The larger blocks finish at 6″ and the smaller at 3″. Did you notice that I tweaked the layout just a bit? I just had to mess with it a bit as I was putting it together.

I like the blend of the soft colors, and the pattern looks a bit improv, and you know I like that!

This was just a little make for fun. I’m in no hurry to finish it, so this will go in my UFO stack for now. However, I do have some thoughts on what to use for backing fabric.

This is my first DrEAMi project for July. I wonder how many other squirrels will visit before the month is done?

I hope you stop over and visit Liz and try her Haphazard pattern. It’s quite fun!

Linking up today with Beth at Cooking Up Quilts.
