Pieceful Life

Thursday Thoughts

I’ve got some Thursday thoughts to share with you today. I’m joining in with LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color and the rest of the group listed at her site. We share things that may not be quilt-related, but that we thought would be fun to share with you.

Falafe, yum! - piecefulthoughts.com

We snuck out for lunch the other day. It was a treat to have something a little different than our usual fare. The falafel was tasty!

We recently got new living room furniture, so hubs whipped up this unique table to sit between my chair and our loveseat. Perfect!

End table made by my husband - piecefulthoughts.com

Why two tissue boxes? The one on the left is a thread catcher for my hand sewing! I reuse it a few times by opening one side, emptying it into the garbage and taping it shut once again.

Flowers from a friend makes my heart happy - piecefulthoughts.com

Life has thrown me a bit of a curveball lately, and my dear friend sent me some flowers to cheer me up. I have them by me while I sew.

The Weekly Wilbs

When he’s not trying to eat my flowers, Wilbs is enjoying the warm sunshine naps each day. The life of a housecat is pretty rough!

Happy Thursday, friends! May you find pockets of joy throughout your day!

I love that table. It is perfect! I have that same kleenex box set-up, but I just start a new one when the actual kleenex empties out. The one for thread is usually full by then, and I just toss the whole box and start with the empty actual kleenex box. You’re very eco-conscious reusing the same box.

That’s a great little table! Your husband is good! I hope whatever threw you off is much better. Your flowers are so pretty. Hugs,

What a great hubby to make that great little table! I hope your curveball has straightened out and every thing is better.

I also really love the table your husband made. So very clever! Sorry to hear that you’re dealing with a curveball but so thoughtful of your friend. You touch a lot of people’s lives with your kindness and have many people near and far who care for you. And yes, the life of a house cat is quite the life indeed, especially in your house or mine!

Hi Wendy! I’m sorry you are dealing with a curveball. What a sweet friend to send you some flowers. You’re lucky you have her in your life! BigJ did a fabulous job on that table. Wow – it’s just perfect. As is Wilbs. {{Hugs}} a bunch for you! ~smile~ Roseanne

That falafal looks delicious! I’m very impressed with your custom odd-shaped table, and using an empty tissue box as a thread catcher is brilliant! Hope you have a great weekend!

That table by Big J is pretty amazing. Congrats on the new furniture! I hope that whatever threw the curveball has stopped throwing. 🙁 Wilbs looks warm and content.

Sending you a virtual pink daisy bouquet to help you through this day (it appears you prefer pink from the photos).
I like how texasquiltgal put it, “I hope that whatever threw the curveball has stopped throwing”
Your reuse of tissue boxes is great to see BTW.

How great to get out of the house for a little treat. The new furniture looks nice and that table is the right shape for that space. It’s wonderful to have friends that find wonderful ways to show they care. Wilbs does look comfortable. I don’t nap much by took one yesterday. It helped to get through the rest of the day. Hope you have a good week.

I love that table that Big J whipped up for you. I had one made for our spot in the living room, and it is nice to have the perfect table. I love the 2 Kleenex boxes, perfect for catching threads and bits. I know I would put it in the wrong one! So beautiful are those flowers….do enjoy them. Thinking of you during this time.

Neat table. Great idea to use the empty tissue box. Gorgeous flowers. Wilbs enjoying the sun is always a great pic.

That’s a great table! It would be a fun challenge to make a quilted tabletopper for that shape. Those are lovely flowers. Like everyone, I’m sorry to hear about the curveball, and will be sending you my good thoughts that things are getting better. Your photo of Wilbur just makes me want to reach into the screen and pet him!

  • lapaylor

whipped up a table?! Wendy, I hope you’re doing okay… if not what can I do to help. Wilbur I love you too

  • Laura

Your Hubby certainly came up with an ingenious solution! The flowers are a beautiful and thoughtful gift! I sure hope things are better now! 🙂

Hi there, I am in the UK and we have charity shops – I think you call yours thrift shops. Our charity shops have what they call The Rag Man, who comes to collect old clothes, furnishings etc and they are given cash for this. I take all my fabric offcuts, trimmings and cut threads for them and I just wondered whether your thrift shops did the same, as you said that you put your cut threads in the garbage. Just a thought.
    I really enjoy your blogs
    Best wishes

Clever hubby! Very neat table. How clever you are too to corral your orts like that. I tend to wear mine or the floor does. Lovely flowers from a friend…how sweet. It’s be best thing to know you’re not alone. And poor Wilbs, having to put up with that life of his!

Those life curveballs… goodness knows, they come at us. Grateful for a peace that passes all understanding even when those curveballs show up
