Pieceful Life

Pieceful Thursday

I’m dropping in with another Pieceful Thursday post, as I join in with LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color along with the others who write I Like Thursday posts (full list at LeeAnna’s site). We share things we’ve noticed while out and about, or on the internet, that bring us joy, amusement, or inspiration.

We recently took a quick trip to MIchigan, a work trip for BigJ, so I went along to keep him company. We walked along the lake a bit. I captured this view. Makes me wish I knew how to paint!

Isn’t the color of that water amazing? All that pretty blue and aqua! We regretted not remembering to bring our lawn chairs so we could sit and relax a bit.

On our drive home, I discovered a new-to-me flower in this pretty flower garden at a park.

My phone tells me this is a Balloon-Flower (also called a Chinese Bellflower). It was so pretty and delicate. We have some purple flowers in our native plant garden in our yard, but none like this. I’d love to have some!

Back home now, I am back to quilting and playing with fabric. Sometimes, however, I like to look at things completely unrelated to quilting. Here are a few of my favorite Instagram feeds (no affiliation with any of them, I just enjoy their work):

  • @alderspring_ranch – this family raises cattle on a range in Idaho. I learn so much about life on a ranch, raising beef cattle, horses and land management. The photography is amazing.
  • @mark.smith.photography – I get completely mesmerized by his videos of osprey and eagles capturing fish from the sea. He frequently notes “Glad I’m not a fish!” – I couldn’t agree more!
  • @englishanj – because who doesn’t need to watch cute little Thelonious Munk eating at his little picnic table??
  • @jimbachor – pothole art!

The Weekly-ish Wilbs

Wilbs’ version of screen time:

He’s so happy to be back by those patio doors, where he can watch Harry the Crow or the chipmunks who stop by to taunt him.

The other day, though, Wilbs had the feeling he was being photobombed.

And that’s it for this Pieceful Thursday post! Thanks for stopping by!

Goodness that lake is pretty! Is Wilbs looking through a screen door or is it glass? We are gong to have our patio screened in on Saturday, and I think the kitties will really like it! 😉

Sounds like a fun trip to celebrate the end of summer (thought not the end of summer temps unfortunately). My daughters cat enjoys her screen time just like Wilbs does. Happy stitching this week.

Bah ha ha ha! I LOVE LOVE that little photobomber! (Not to leave you out, Wilbs–you’re cute too!). I like Wilbs’ version of screentime (insightful of you Wendy!). And that water–that was my first thought: How blue! My next thought was that I wish we had anything like that around here. (I love where we live but it is just so boring!)

We called windows and sliding glass doors “kitty TVs” when our guy was with us; it was obvious when there was good content – he’d start chirping and chittering. The colors of the lake are stunning. I’m glad you were able to get to go along with BigJ and enjoy walks together!

Beautiful and serene lake view. How nice that you could tag along with your husband, and enjoy some time together.

Hi Wendy! Oh, what gorgeous photos of the lake. I just wanted to sit and watch the water in either photo, but especially the one with shade. Wilbs is as photogenic as usual. I hope you’re doing well. {{Hugs}} a bunch! ~smile~ Roseanne

Beautiful lake view, Wendy! I would want to sit and just watch (and listen!), too. I enjoy Thelonius Monk every day – I think on your recommendation. That’s a new definition for screen time, lol! But I can definitely see Wilbs enjoying that view.

So nice that you got out and saw the lake and those gorgeous flowers. Of course Wilbs is always a welcome treat for me. He looks ready to pounce onto the deck!

  • Nancy @ Grace and Peace Quilting

What a beautiful photo of the lake, Wendy!!! We saw those bellflowers all over in Japan. Wilbs cracks me up!!!
